My brother, mother, sister-in-law and I  took a trip to Jamaica.  My brother and his wife usually go to Jamaica every year for Reggae Sumfest.  Jamaica has always been on my bucket list, so this year my mom and I decided to tag along.  We spent the night in New Orleans the night before our departure because of a 5:25 am flight time.

"I'm a recent packing cube convert. For the longest time, I didn't believe in the hype, choosing to simply roll or pack my belongings in my bag. My first experience was my trip to Oakland for a weekend.  I chose to take a carry- on suitcase and if you are a packer like me (different clothes options per day) I decided to try the cubes.

The lines in the airport are overwhelming, to say the least.  While standing in that overwhelming line, I saw people zooming by in designated lanes. I looked a little harder and  saw lines were for TSA Pre-Check, Global Entry and Clear.  I am like what are those and how do I get them?   Get home and I google each one and then I am faced with, which one to choose.  So let's break down each one:

Can You Leave the Airport During a Layover?

In an ideal world, you'd be able to fly nonstop just about anywhere. But the reality is you'll probably have a layover on more than one trip in your life. And in some cases, those layovers might be really long. At that point, you're at a crossroads. Do you head for the airport lounge for hours upon hours? Do you post up at an airport bar and spend who knows how much cash on mediocre food and drinks? Or do you make a break for it and leave the airport?
